Yahoo will be renamed to Altaba after Verizon buyout
Yahoo has a deal to sell its core internet business, which includes its digital advertising, email and media assets, to Verizon for $4.83 billion. After the acquisition will be completed, the remainder of the company will be renamed to “Altaba”. Altaba’s main holdings will be stakes in Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba and major Japanese Internet portal Yahoo Japan.

Prototypes of Razer triple screen gaming laptop stolen
Gaming company Razer is offering $25,000 reward for any information leading to the identification and arrest of a thief, after two of its prototypes went missing from its display at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan said “Our teams worked months on end to conceptualize and develop these units and we pride ourselves in pushing the envelope to deliver the latest and greatest. We treat theft, and if relevant to this case, industrial espionage, very seriously”.

The Liveman C1 action camera can shoot 4K videos, has a 16-megapixel sensor and a 140 degree wide-angle lens. It comes with a waterproof case which allows for video shooting up to 40 metres under water.

Microsoft announces Windows 10 Insider preview build
There are a lot of other features and changes in this build. First up, Microsoft Edge is getting some new functionality that should improve the browsing experience. The classic Blue Screen of Death is now a Green Screen of Death for Windows Insiders only. Updates can be paused for up to 35 days, and set driver updates to install separately from other ones.

Nokia might be working on virtual assistant called Viki
A new trademark application by Nokia suggests the company could be building a phone-based digital assistant. The EU trademark has the description: “Software for the creation and monitoring of mobile and web digital assistants working with knowledge and combining all data sources into a single chat and voice based interface”.

Square Off designed a chess board that can move pieces on its own
Your opponent can be either an AI, letting you test your skills against a chess-playing computer intelligence, or a player from around the world, through the internet. “We’ve tried to bring the best parts of a virtual board into reality, so you don’t need to sit in front of your screen to play,” said creator Bhavya Gohil.
