Google will provide $1 billion in grants for tech education
Goole will offer $1 billion to nonprofit organizations helping to raise education levels around the world. The company is partnering with online education companies like Udacity and Coursera as well as charitable organizations like Goodwill and 4-H. Google is committing $10 million to Goodwill to help launch the Goodwill Digital Career Accelerator, aimed at preparing the American workforce for high-tech jobs. It is the largest grant Google.org has awarded to a single organisation, the company stated.

Dell will invest $1 billion in Internet of Things research and development
Dell is creating a division that will focus on developing products, research and partnerships for a field that connects everything from driverless cars to light bulbs to the internet. Dell said it’s investing $1 billion over the next three years for the effort, which will employing artificial intelligence and machine learning technology.

The phone will have a 5.7 inch screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 64 GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM. It will come with Android 7.1.1 Nougat and will be officially launched on November 1st.

Built on Shutterstock’s next generation visual similarity model, this tool allows users to specify one or more keywords and arrange them spatially on a canvas to reflect the specific layout of the image they are seeking. Composition Aware Search uses a combination of machine vision, natural language processing, and state of the art information retrieval techniques to find strong matches against complex spatially aware search criteria.

The Pirate Bay is using visitors’ CPUs to mine cryptocurrency
Users are not being informed of the existence of the miner and there is currently no means of opting-out of its operation. The mining script being used, Coinhive, maintains strict guidelines on keeping users aware of its operation and offering them a means of opting-out, and it promised to crack down on offending sites.

Sony is developing a movie adaptation of the Settlers Of Catan board game
Sony Pictures is currently attempting to adapt the 1995 board game The Settlers Of Catan into a feature film. At present, it’s believed that the film will be produced by Gail Katz (Air Force One, The Perfect Storm), Dan Lin (It, Sherlock Holmes, The Lego Movie), and Jonathan Elrich (Netflix’s Death Note).
