WinRAR has a critical bug which is being used to install malware
The vulnerability was discovered by security researchers from Check Point Software and it impacts all WinRAR versions released in the last 19 years. These attacks are apparently able to install malware on people’s computers quite easily, as most of the antiviruses are unfortunately unable to detect it.

WhatsApp co-founder renews call for users to delete Facebook
At a speech at Stanford University, Brian Acton, who founded WhatsApp with Jan Koum in 2009, told the students that Facebook cares more about monetizing their information than it does about protecting their privacy. Acton sold WhatsApp to Facebook for $19 billion in October 2014. He left the company three years later, following Facebook’s decision to allow for ads on WhatsApp.

Microsoft’s SwiftKey added Google as search engine option
At the end of last year, Microsoft added the ability to natively search the web from within SwiftKey’s keyboard. When the feature launched, users could only search using Bing. For those who do prefer Google over Bing, Microsoft has released a new update that adds the option to change the search engine.

Jury decided Apple infringed three Qualcomm patents in iPhones
Apple will have to pay Qualcomm $31 million for infringing on its technology. One disputed Qualcomm patent covers technology that lets a smartphone quickly connect to the internet once the device is turned on. The other deal with graphics processing and battery life. The third one refers to technology that shifts traffic between a phone’s apps processor and modem.
