Microsoft will acquire Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion
Activision Blizzard is one of the biggest game developers and publishers around. It launched games such as Call of Duty, Candy Crush, Diablo, Warcraft, StarCraft, Overwatch, and more. Microsoft plans to add Activision Blizzard games to Game Pass. With the acquisition of the company and its 10,000 employees across various studios, Microsoft will become the third-largest game company globally.

YouTube will stop making most original shows
After six years of working on various productions, YouTube will officially end its current operations of the YouTube Originals division. Going forward, the company will only fund originals in the YouTube Kids Fund and the Black Voices Fund.

China’s Olympics app for athletes has security vulnerabilities
Researchers at Citizen Lab are warning that athletes, officials and reporters attending the Winter Olympics risk having their communications hacked through My 2022, the official app for the event. The vulnerabilities could allow a hacker to access the encryption systems that are supposed to protect voice audio and file transfers.

Ericsson sued Apple over 5G patent licensing infringements
Two lawsuits have been filed by Ericsson, and together cover a total of 12 separate patents. Ericsson is claiming that Apple using its technology without a license, following the expiration of a 2015 settlement.
