China banned chips from US company Micron over “major security risks”
Micron produces a wide variety of chips such as RAM, DRAM, and storage. Authorities barred operators of “critical information infrastructure” in China from buying products from the U.S. chip company following a security review conducted by the Cyberspace Administration.
Samsung has suspended an internal review of a switch from Google to Bing
According to internal sources, Samsung was originally considering a switch to Bing because it wanted to “diversify its smartphone software.” Now the company has reportedly put its plans on hold. Google’s contract with Samsung generates an estimated annual revenue of $3 billion.
Instagram might launch a Twitter competitor next month
The app’s interface will be similar to Instagram’s, but instead of a feed of photos and videos, the app’s home shows a timeline of “text-based” posts, as described by the company. Users will be able to attach photos, videos, and links to these posts, just like on Twitter.
Meta will license Magic Leap’s AR technology
A partnership between the two companyies could see Magic Leap provide Meta with access to some of its optical tech. Magic Leap could also assist with manufacturing Meta devices.
