Google is accused of fixing ad prices with Facebook
Google is accused in an antitrust lawsuit of giving itself an advantage in online advertising by cutting a deal with Facebook that gives the social network an advantage in virtual auctions which determine whose ads appear where. Last year, Google was also sued by 10 US states for allegedly running “an illegal digital advertising monopoly” and bringing on board Facebook for “an alleged deal to rig ad auctions”.

Facebook disables accounts tied to NYU research
Facebook disabled a New York University research project’s accounts and access to the platform, shutting down a study of the company’s targeting of political ads. Facebook says the researchers violated its terms of service and were involved in unauthorized data collection from its massive network. The academics, however, say the company is attempting to exert control on a research that could show it in a negative light.

Microsoft stops free Windows 365 cloud PC trials because of “unbelievable demand”
Microsoft launched its new cloud PC Windows 365 service earlier this week, and the company has already had to pause free trials due to demand. Windows 365 lets users rent a cloud PC, with a variety of CPU, RAM, and storage options, and then stream Windows 10 or Windows 11 via a web browser.

IMDb TV has dedicated Android and iOS apps more than two years after launch
Although its library has been available in both Prime Video and IMDb apps since 2019, the service now has its own apps. The addition of the two major mobile platforms comes after the IMDb TV app launched this year on Roku, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Android TV devices, LG Smart TVs (2018-2021 models) and Sony PlayStation 4 consoles.
