Apple confirms all Mac and iOS devices are affected by Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities
Apple says that it has already mitigated some of the potential negative consequences of Meltdown, which is the vulnerability that affects devices with Intel chips, with patches to iOS (11.2), macOS (10.13.2), and tvOS (11.2). Also, the company plans to issue patches for Safari on macOS and iOS to better help devices defend against Spectre, which is more easily exploitable and affects devices using chips from Intel, AMD, and ARM. Apple Watch devices are not affected by Meltdown in any way, the company confirms.

Google invested $120 million in Chinese mobile game platform Chushou
Founded in 2015, Chushou operates a platform where gamers can live stream their mobile phone game activities. “Chushou has built an impressive platform, with a dedicated and quickly growing base of content creators and consumers, and smart expansion plans. We’re excited to be supporting Chushou through this investment“, said Frank Lin, Google’s head of corporate development in North Asia.

HP issues recall on laptop batteries because of overheating
Overheating concerns have prompted computer giant HP to issue a recall notice for several of its laptop models. HP said that only 0.1% of laptops sold across the globe are on the voluntary recall list, and just 3% of those could potentially overheat.

India’s citizen database was breached
India’s massive biometric database, is facing new allegations of compromise after local journalists reported paying the equivalent of $8 in Indian rupees for full administrative access. With nearly 1.2 billion assigned numbers, the Aadhaar program, launched in 2009, is the largest national database of people in the world.

A robotic suitcase will follow the users around
The suitcase will be available in three sizes, named S, M and L that will cost $1,099, $1,295 and $1,495 respectively. The suitcase, which the company claims is the world’s first fully autonomous robot suitcase, comes with fingerprint security, phone tracking, wireless charging and its own internal scales.
