A new ransomware attack targets thousands of VMware ESXi servers worldwide
French Computer Emergency Response Team and Italy’s national cybersecurity authority (ACN) officially warned organizations worldwide against the ransomware attack that encrypts .vmxf, .vmx, .vmdk, .vmsd, and .nvra files on compromised ESXi servers and deploy ransom notes named “ransom.html”. It is known as ESXiArgs ransomware and it has already impacted thousands of vulnerable targets worldwide.
