A new ransomware called ‘Big Head’ displays fake Windows update alert
Security researchers at FortiGuard Labs have discovered two variants of “Big Head” ransomware that may be spreading through malvertising that promotes fake Windows updates and Microsoft Word installers. One of them uses a fake Windows update screen to stall users while it encrypts the device’s files in the background, a process which takes just 30 seconds according to the cybersecurity experts.
