Okta, a major provider of security technology for businesses, government agencies and other organizations, said that one of its customer service tools had been hacked. It appears the hackers responsible had access to the company’s support platform for at least two weeks before the company fully contained the intrusion.

NorthPole was developed over the course of eight years and consists of 22 billion transistors made using a 12-nanometer process. It eliminates the need to frequently access external memory, and so performs tasks such as image recognition faster than existing architectures do, while consuming vastly less power.
