AI Overviews in Search creates a summary answer to a Google Search inquiry using information from a number of sources. Those answers also contain links to other sites for more detailed information.

Google unveiled ‘Project Astra’ assistant
Project Astra it’s a real-time, multimodal AI assistant that can see the world, knows what things are and where users left them and can answer questions. Project Astra is an early-stage feature with no specific launch plans, but Google has hinted that some of these capabilities may be integrated into products like the Gemini app later this year.

Google launched a new generative AI video model called Veo
Google Veo is a text-to-video generator that creates 1080p videos from prompts in a quality that seems to match OpenAI’s Sora. Google claims Veo has “an advanced understanding of natural language and visual semantics” to create whatever video users have in mind.

Meta will shut down Workplace app to focus on AI and metaverse
Workplace was an alternative to office communication platforms like Slack and Microsoft Teams. The platform will be available to customers until August 31st, 2025. After September 1st, 2025, Workplace will become read- and export-only until June 1st, 2026, when access will end and the data will be deleted.
