Meta launched two AI tools for image and video editing
Emu Edit and Emu Video can be used on Instagram or Facebook. Emu Video generates four-second long videos with a prompt of a caption, photo or an image, paired with a description. Emu Edit allows users to more easily alter or edit videos with text prompts.

Apple announced that iPhones will support RCS in 2024
After years of pressure from competitors, Apple has announced that it plans to add RCS messaging in a software update coming next year. Once Apple officially supports RCS for iOS, cross-platform messaging will feature high-quality image and videos, read receipts, typing indicators, and more.

Spotify will use Google’s AI to improve content discovery and personalized recommendations
Spotify and Google Cloud have announced an expanded partnership to analyze the roughly 5 million podcasts and 350,000 audiobooks in its content library with a goal of trying to “augment” the metadata. Spotify has collaborated with Google Cloud as its preferred cloud provider since 2016.

TikTok and Meta filed legal challenges against new European Union rules
The two companies are appealing against the “gatekeeper” status under the Digital Markets Act (DMA). The legislation obliges companies to make their services interoperable with those of competitors for the first time and to open their closed ecosystems to competing services. Companies have until March 6 to comply with the new rules.
