The European Commission launched a formal investigation against X for alleged Digital Services Act violations
The European Commission has begun formal proceedings investigating whether X has violated European rules on illegal content, content manipulation and data transparency. Under the Digital Services Act, which came into force in August, a company can be fined 6% of its global income or be banned from operating across the EU if it is found to have breached the law.

TomTom and Microsoft signed a partnership to add generative AI to automobiles
The assistant will allow users to “converse naturally with their vehicles” and enable voice interaction with infotainment, location search, and vehicle command systems. TomTom, which competes with Google Maps and the world’s biggest mapping platform HERE, will use various Microsoft services like its Azure OpenAI Service to create the voice assistant.

Adobe abandoned the $20 billion acquisition of Figma
Adobe said that after a joint assessment between the two companies, there was no clear path to gain regulatory approvals from the European Commission and the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). As a result of the termination, Adobe will be required to pay Figma a reverse termination fee of $1 billion in cash.

Google will pay $700 million to US consumers to settle an antitrust lawsuit
In addition to the $700 million, Google will allow app developers to charge consumers directly instead of being billed through Google, where the company can take a cut of up to 30 percent. The company will also simplify the process of making apps available for download outside of the Google Play store.
