OpenAI unveiled a voice cloning AI model that only needs a 15-second sample to work

The model, called Voice Engine, can create a synthetic voice based on a 15-second clip of someone’s voice. The AI-generated voice can read out text prompts on command in the same language as the speaker or in a number of other languages.

Microsoft and OpenAI will build a new AI supercomputer called “Stargate”

Microsoft and OpenAI are working on a joint data center project that could cost $100 billion and include an artificial intelligence supercomputer called “Stargate” set to launch in 2028. Stargate’s power requirements, estimated to be several gigawatts would likely require Microsoft and OpenAI to explore alternative power sources, like nuclear power.

OpenAI showcased its video generation technology Sora in Hollywood

The company held meetings with major studios including Paramount, Universal and Warner Bros Discovery to discuss potential partnerships. Sora is still awaiting a public release later this year. OpenAI said they are working to improve the system.

Google has updated Gemini to automatically start Google Maps navigation

When using Gemini as a digital assistant, asking for directions would display a card with brief route details and a link to the route’s directions which opens Google Maps. But now, Gemini will automatically starting Google Maps navigation once users ask for directions.
