Google’s new AI Overviews feature in Search can give false and dangerous answers
The AI Overview provided weird answers in the past days, from telling users to put glue on their pizza to suggesting they eat rocks. It’s an odd situation, since Google has been testing AI Overviews for a year. The feature was launched in beta in May 2023. The company said it is taking “swift action where appropriate under our content policies”.

A new ransomware uses BitLocker to encrypt victim data
Researchers from cybersecurity firm Kaspersky discovered a new ransomware, ShrinkLocker, that encrypts corporate systems using Windows BitLocker. ShrinkLocker is named so because it shrinks the size of each non-boot partition by 100 MB and splits the newly unallocated space into new primary partitions of the same size.

A study found that 52 percent of ChatGPT answers to programming questions are wrong
The research from Purdue University looked at 517 programming questions on Stack Overflow that were then fed to ChatGPT. The study explained “Our analysis shows that 52% of ChatGPT answers contain incorrect information and 77% are verbose”.

Google Play will add a new button that lets users ask someone else to pay for an app or in-app item.
The feature will work with any app that makes use of Google Play’s in-app purchase system. It creates a payment link that users can send to a friend or family member via text message or email.
