Apple researchers unveiled a new AI model that can understand situational context
The system, called ReALM (Reference Resolution As Language Modeling), takes into account both what’s on the screen and what tasks are active when answearing a question. Apple discovered that its smallest ReALM models performed similarly to GPT-4 with much fewer parameters, thus better suited for on-device use.

Google will ‘destroy’ browsing data collected from Chrome Incognito mode
The company was sued in 2020 for misled users about the data collected while in Incognito mode, tracking their website usage without their knowledge. Now, Google is settling the lawsuit and promises to discard “billions of data points” that were improperly collected, revising its data collection disclosures, and implementing a default setting to block Chrome’s third-party cookies.

OpenAI will no longer require an account to use ChatGPT
The company says it added extra safeguards for accountless users, including blocking prompts and image generations in more categories than logged-in users. With this announcement, OpenAI also added that more than 100 million people across 185 countries use ChatGPT weekly.

Microsoft will separate the Teams from the Office app worldwide
The decision comes around half a year after the company did the exact same thing in EU, at that time trying to avert a possible antitrust fine from the EU. Companies already subscribed to Microsoft 365 and Office 365 editions with Teams included may choose to continue using them.
