A group of current and former employees from OpenAI and Google DeepMind demand stronger whistleblower protections in an open letter
The letter has so far been signed by 13 individuals and is asking for greater transparency and protection from retaliation for those who speak out about the potential concerns of AI. The authors warn that the unchecked pursuit of powerful AI systems could lead to the spread of misinformation, exacerbation of inequality and even the loss of human control over autonomous systems

Micrsoft is accused in EU of secretly collecting children’s data
Austrian advocacy group Noyb has filed two complaints claiming schoolchildren are likely being tracked by Microsoft education software. It also alleges that the company “installed cookies that, according to Microsoft’s own documentation, analyze user behavior, collect browser data and are used for advertising”.

YouTube is testing a new feature called ‘Dream Screen’ that creates AI-generated green screen backgrounds
Users, once they get access to Dream Screen, can write a text prompt describing what they want in the background. The feature is currently available only to a select group of Shorts creators.

Netflix announced the launch of 14 new video games
The new games will include one based on its “Emily in Paris” TV series and the mobile version of “Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game”. Netflix will also launch three games developed by Klei Entertainment, “Lab Rat,” “Don’t Starve Together” and “Rotwood”.
