The European Parliament have agreed on a provisional version of the right-to-repair law
According to this law, manufacturers will need to provide an extra 12 months of warranty to users after a repair, they’ll be required to offer spare parts at a reasonable price, and they will be required to accept second-hand or 3D printer spare parts. The government also plans to introduce online platforms for tracking repair services to make the whole process even more convenient.

Mozilla is “extremely disappointed” with the way Apple is implementing iOS’s new EU browser rules
Apple’s new rules in the European Union allow browsers like Firefox to use their own engines on iOS. According to Mozilla spokesperson, Apple’s implementation of changes does not give consumers “viable choices” because it makes it “as painful as possible” for companies to provide alternatives to Safari.

Microsoft is collaborating with media start-up Semafor to help journalists work with generative AI in content production
As part of the agreement, Microsoft will pay an undisclosed sum of money to Semafor to sponsor a breaking news feed called “Signals”. Signals will be written by journalists, with artificial intelligence providing a research tool to inform posts.

Copilot for Microsoft 365 is now available as part of Copilot in Windows
Copilot will allow users to perform common tasks in Windows like changing Windows settings, to searching for information on the web. Users can toggle between “Work” and “Web” options to either use the capabilities of Copilot for Microsoft 365 or Copilot with commercial data protection.
