OpenAI plans to release the new AI model ‘Strawberry’ in two weeks
Strawberry is different from other chatbots AI because of its ability to “think” before responding, rather than immediately answering a query. OpenAI has reportedly trained the model to offer better responses in areas such as solving math problems, coding, generating marketing strategies, and more.

Meta has admitted to scraping all public Facebook and Instagram posts made since 2007 in order to train its AI model
Meta has denied using the information of anyone under 18, but could not answer whether it has scraped the photos of children who are now adults (those who created their accounts as a child, but have since turned 18). The company was legally required to offer opt-outs in both the EU and UK, though even the legality of making it opt-out rather than opt-in is under investigation.

OpenAI launched o1, its first model that can emulate ‘reasoning’
The company claims that o1 can perform complex reasoning tasks more effectively than its predecessors. OpenAI said that the model performs similarly to PhD students on challenging benchmark tasks in physics, chemistry and biology, and excels in math and coding.

EU opened an investigation into one of Google’s artificial intelligence systems
The inquiry is regarding the company’s Pathways Language Model 2, or PaLM 2. The Irish Data Protection Commission said Google may not have evaluated if its gathering of Europeans’ personal data to develop the AI models could threaten fundamental rights and freedoms.
