Google is planning to launch a technology that will identify whether a photo was taken with a camera, edited by software like Photoshop, or produced by generative AI models. The company will use C2PA’s authentication, a technical standard that includes information about where images originate.

The European Commission starts monitoring Apple over interoperability updates
The EU has opened up two new proceedings to guide Apple in making its iOS more open to third-party app developers and device manufacturers. The Commission has given Apple six months to address interoperability issues or face fines of up to 10% of the company’s annual global turnover.

LinkedIn scraped user data to train generative AI models, but not from the EU
LinkedIn will be is updating its user agreement in the US and changes will go into effect on Nov. 20. The company said it has clarified practices covered by its privacy policy and added a new opt out setting disclosing that the app scrapes personal data to train “content creation AI models”. The platform has not been collecting data from EU users for AI training, thanks to the data privacy laws, particularly the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
