Apple fixed a zero-day vulnerability exploited in ‘extremely sophisticated’ attacks
The vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2025-24201, was found in the WebKit cross-platform web browser engine used by Apple’s Safari web browser and many other apps and web browsers on macOS, iOS, Linux, and Windows. Apple said it was used in attacks on “specific targeted individuals” prior to the iOS 17.2 update.

North Korean government hackers uploaded Android spyware onto the Google Play app store
Researchers with cybersecurity firm Lookout have discovered the spyware, dubbed KoSpy, in multiple Android apps, some that were available in Google Play after passing the company’s security vetting. KoSpy can collect text messages and call logs, find the device’s location, record key strokes, access files and folders, record audio and take photos.

Spain will impose heavy fines for not labeling AI-generated content
The new legislation aligns with the European Union’s AI Act, which enforces strict transparency requirements for high-risk AI systems, Digital Transformation Minister Oscar Lopez announced. The bill will also outlaw the use of subliminal influence, such as through sound and visuals. Companies that breach this rule may face fines of either 7% of their global annual turnover or €35 million.
