Google DeepMind created an AI that can invent new algorithms

AlphaEvolve is an “evolutionary coding agent” powered by large language models that can discover and optimize algorithms. This AI came up with a way to improve the software Google uses to allocate jobs to its many millions of servers around the world. Google DeepMind claims the company has been using AlphaEvolve across all of its data centers for more than a year.

Audible will use AI voices to narrate audiobooks

Audible said it will “combine its experience producing audio stories with Amazon’s AI technology” to produce the audiobooks. The company added that publishers will be able to choose from more than 100 AI-generated voices in English, Spanish, French and Italian, with multiple accent and dialect options.

Apple is showing warnings on EU apps that don’t use App Store payments

The company added a warning with a red exclamation mark next to apps that it found were not using its own “private and secure payment system”. The message is seemingly meant to discourage users from using external payment systems, as is now permitted under the new EU law, the Digital Markets Act.
