Microsoft patched a zero-day vulnerability exploited by Lazarus hackers
The North Korean Lazarus hacking group exploited a zero-day flaw in the Windows described as a privilege escalation bug. Gen Digital researchers discovered the vulnerability and claim that it allowed hacked “to gain unauthorized access to sensitive system areas”. Microsoft fixed the flaw during its August 2024 Patch Tuesday, along with seven other zero-day vulnerabilities.

YouTube unveiled a new AI chatbot to help users restore hacked channels
The new “hacked channel assistant” will allow some “eligible creators” on YouTube to troubleshoot their accounts when they have been hacked. The AI chatbot will ask a series of verification questions in order for the owners of the Youtube channels to secure their Google accounts. Also, they will be able to undo anything the hacker may have done to their channel.

Midjourney’s AI-image generator website is now officially open to everyone
Midjourney, the AI-powered image generation platform, is offering 25 free image generations to all users. Previously users had to generate 10 images in Discord before they could get access to the web version.

Google launched the ‘Google Essentials’ app for easier access to its services on Windows PCs
Google Essentials lets users easily install some of the more popular apps, including Google Play Games, Photos, and Messages. The app will initially be exclusive to HP computers, with plans to expand to other manufacturers in the future.
