EU court fined the European Commission for violation of data protection rules

The EU General Court ruled that the European Commission must pay €400 in damages to a German citizen for violating data protection laws. The case marks the first time the Commission has been held liable for failing to comply with its data regulations.

A group of authors are accusing Meta of knowingly using copyrighted material. The authors claim that internal Meta documents, disclosed during the discovery phase, prove the company was aware that the works were pirated.

Google will face a class action lawsuit over data collection

The lawsuit accuses Google of collecting personal data despite users disabling tracking features on their devices. An US federal judge dismissed Google’s argument that it had sufficiently informed users about its Web & App Activity settings and obtained their consent for tracking.

X launched the Grok AI assistant iPhone app in the US

The standalone app version of the chatbot, which xAI calls a beta, can perform the same functions as the one built into X, as it can answer questions and generate images. xAI is also working on a dedicated Grok.com website that currently has a “coming soon” message on it.
