Google DeepMind launched a new language model, called Gemini Robotics On-Device, that can run tasks locally on robots without requiring an internet connection. This on-device model is a smaller, more efficient version of the Gemini Robotics system that was first unveiled in March 2025.

Google adds old Street View images to celebrate 20 years of Google Earth
The company said the anniversary update allows users to “explore the wonders of the planet from even more viewpoints, whether it’s a bird’s eye view or at street level”. Google Earth first launched in 2005, and according to Google was downloaded 100 million times in its first week.

Google lets Android users put Chrome’s address bar on the bottom
Google’s experiment with moving the address bar in Chrome for Android to the bottom started back in 2016. After an on-off, on-off testing phase, the company reintroduced the feature in 2023, but only for iPhone users. Now it is also available on Android.
