Google DeepMind created an AI that can invent new algorithms
AlphaEvolve is an “evolutionary coding agent” powered by large language models that can discover and optimize algorithms. This AI came up with a way to improve the software Google uses to allocate jobs to its many millions of servers around the world. Google DeepMind claims the company has been using AlphaEvolve across all of its data centers for more than a year.

Apple is showing warnings on EU apps that don’t use App Store payments
The company added a warning with a red exclamation mark next to apps that it found were not using its own “private and secure payment system”. The message is seemingly meant to discourage users from using external payment systems, as is now permitted under the new EU law, the Digital Markets Act.

Microsoft will shut off Bing Search APIs and recommends switching to AI
The company announced that the Bing Search API will be permanently disabled on August 11, 2025. All existing API instances will be completely decommissioned and the API will no longer be available for use.

OpenAI is introducing two new AI models, GPT-4.1 and GPT-4.1 mini, to ChatGPT
GPT-4.1 is the new, better version of GPT that exceeds the performance of the more mainstream GPT-4o. The GPT-4.1 mini will replace GPT-4o mini as the default for all ChatGPT users, including those on the free tier.
