Microsoft is using AI to create the world’s first 3D replica of St. Peter’s Basilica

The La Basilica di San Pietro project is a collaboration between the Vatican, Iconem (a startup specializing in the digitalization of cultural heritage sites), and Microsoft. It allows unprecedented access to the Vatican City’s most famous church. Visitors will have access to two AI-enabled immersive exhibits of the Basilica and an interactive website.

YouTube is testing music remixes made by AI

The feature will allow some creators to use AI for restyling licensed songs. It still remains unclear which songs are included in this feature or which music labels YouTube has partnered with for this trial.

Qwant and Ecosia will collaborate to build a European search index

The companies agreed a joint venture, called the European Search Perspective, which they plan to launch in France initially in the first quarter of 2025. The aim is to build European digital sovereignty and use the platform to provide a foundation for artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure.

The European Union has ordered Apple to cease geo-blocking practices on its services

According to the Commission, Apple’s practices appear to unlawfully restrict European consumers from accessing digital content based on their country of residence. The EU has given Apple a one-month deadline to propose solutions in order to address the geo-blocking practices.
