A new Mandrake Android spyware version was discovered on Google Play

The new version of the Android spyware ‘Mandrake’ has been found in five applications downloaded 32,000 times from Google’s official app store. Those apps remained available for at least a year, while the last one, AirFS, which was the most successful in terms of popularity, was removed at the end of March 2024. Bitdefender first documented Mandrake in 2020.

WhatsApp is testing a new voice messaging feature for its Meta AI chatbot

Previously, communicating with Meta AI on WhatsApp was limited to text and images. But, with the WhatsApp Android beta version 2.24.16.10, there is a voice message button next to the typing field. The feature is reportedly being launched for a small group of beta testers.

Intel will lay off 15,000 employees, 15 percent of its workforce

As well as the job cuts, the company has a cost-reduction plan that includes creating separate financial reporting for Intel Products and Intel Foundry. The Intel Foundry branch saw an operating loss of $2.8 billion in Q2, even more than the $1.8 billion operating loss during the second quarter last year.

Qualcomm will launch Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 processor for entry-level 5G smartphones

The entry-level chip aims to make 5G accessible to 2.8 billion smartphone users in select regions, including India and Latin America. Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 will be initially adopted by key OEMs, including Xiaomi and its other brands, with the first commercial device expected to be announced before the end of the year.
