Google released Gemini 1.5 Pro, which outperforms GPT-4 and Claude-3.5

Gemini 1.5 Pro has advanced multimodal capabilities, excelling in various domains from multilingual tasks to intricate technical areas such as mathematics and coding. According to data from the LMSYS Chatbot Arena, this model has ascended to the top of the leaderboard with an ELO score of 1300, surpassing competitors like GPT-4o, which has an ELO of 1286, and Claude 3.5 Sonnet at 1271.

WhatsApp is testing a new voice messaging feature for its Meta AI chatbot

Previously, communicating with Meta AI on WhatsApp was limited to text and images. But, with the WhatsApp Android beta version 2.24.16.10, there is a voice message button next to the typing field. The feature is reportedly being launched for a small group of beta testers.

Intel will lay off 15,000 employees, 15 percent of its workforce

As well as the job cuts, the company has a cost-reduction plan that includes creating separate financial reporting for Intel Products and Intel Foundry. The Intel Foundry branch saw an operating loss of $2.8 billion in Q2, even more than the $1.8 billion operating loss during the second quarter last year.
