Patronus AI launched Lynx, a model that can detect hallucinations in large language models
Hallucinations occur when LLMs generate responses that are coherent but do not align with factual reality or the input context. Patronus AI reported that Lynx achieved 8.3% higher accuracy than GPT-4 in detecting medical inaccuracies and surpassed GPT-3.5 by 29% across all tasks.

WhatsApp will add voice message transcription on Android
The feature is now part of the WhatsApp Beta (version 2.24.15.5) for Android, and as the name suggests it will transcribe the voice messages. WhatsApp will inform users that voice messages continue to remain end-to-end encrypted even if transcribed.

An Exim vulnerability is affecting 1.5 million servers
Tracked as CVE-2024-39929, the vulnerability has a severity rating of 9.1 out of 10. The Exim mail server has received a recent bug fix in Release Candidate 3 of Exim 4.98. Anyone using Exim should update the mailer to this or a newer version.

Apple reached a deal with EU regulators and will open up its mobile payments system
In two weeks, iPhone users in the European Union will be able to use any mobile wallet they like to complete payments. The change comes as part of a settlement with the European Commission, which investigated Apple for potentially shutting out rivals by denying access to the “Near Field Communication” (NFC) technology on its devices.
