Google will make multi-factor authentication mandatory on all Cloud accounts by the end of 2025

The change will unfold through three phases to ease the transition for impacted users. Starting this month, users who are not using MFA on their accounts will be encouraged to do so via a reminder on the console screen. According to Google, this concerns roughly 30% of Cloud users.

WhatsApp beta added reverse image search

The new feature will give users the option to send a recieved image through a reverse image Google Search. Currently, it is available in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android and is accessible to select users for testing.

South Korea fined Meta $15 million for illegally collecting information on Facebook users

Seoul’s data protection agency discovered that the company had collected sensitive user data from 980,000 South Korean Facebook users without their consent. In addition to this, Meta is accused of transferring the information to 4,000 advertisers, who used the data to develop personalized ads.

The European Commission plans to fine Apple for not adequately complying with Digital Markets Act (DMA)

Apple could soon become the first company to be hit with a fine for violating the Digital Markets Act (DMA). While the amount that Apple will have to pay as fine is still unclear, the DMA states that companies can be charged up to 10 per cent of their annual global revenue and up to 20 per cent for repeat offenses.
