Google open-sourced its AI watermarking tech
Google’s SynthID text watermarking technology is now available through the Google Responsible Generative AI Toolkit. SynthID, which was announced last August, helps make AI-generated output detectable by adding an invisible watermark into images, audio, video, and text as they’re generated.

Anthropic’s Claude chatbot can now write and run JavaScript code
The new feature builds on Claude 3.5 Sonnet’s coding and data skills, which have been improved with a recent upgrade to the large language model. All code is executed directly within the Claude.ai interface.

Meta created smaller versions of its Llama artificial intelligence models that can run on smartphones and tablets
The company unveiled quantized, or lightweight, versions of the Llama 3.2 1B and 3B models, which come with a reduced memory footprint and support faster on-device inference, with greater accuracy. Meta said tests with Android OnePlus 12 smartphones showed that the models reduced memory resource usage by an average of 41%, while almost matching the performance of the full-sized versions.

EU fined LinkedIn $335 million over targeted advertising
LinkedIn is facing a €310 million ($334 million) fine in the EU after the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC) determined it had conducted behavioral analyses of its members’ personal data for targeted advertising. The regulator said the practice breached strict European Union data protection laws.
