WhatsApp has added new chat filters to make it easier to find messages quickly

The new filters will appear at the top of the chat list and will categorize the messages according to different criteria. “All” is the default view, “Unread” are just messages marked as unread, and “Groups” are for group chats and Community subgroups. Users will need to update the app to see the new feature.

Microsoft unveiled VASA-1, a new AI model that turns photos into ‘talking faces’

VASA-1 takes in a single portrait photo and an audio file and converts it into a hyper realistic talking face video complete with lip sync, realistic facial features and head movement. The model is currently only a research project and not available for anyone outside of the Microsoft Research team.

The Meta AI integration within the search bar was initially limited to certain regions, but WhatsApp is now expanding the experiment to more users across the globe. Meta’s AI chatbot will work independently, so it won’t be tied to the conversations users have on WhatsApp.

Google Pixel 9 may have a satellite SOS feature

Users will have to point the phone at the satellite with a UI to help they aim. The goal is to keep the satellite icon inside the circle to ensure a good connection. The feature is called “Emergency SOS”.

Boston Dynamics unveiled an all-electric version of its Atlas robot

A day after announcing it was retiring Atlas, its hydraulic robot, Boston Dynamics has introduced a new, all-electric model. Boston Dynamics says parent company Hyundai’s next generation of automotive manufacturing tech is the “perfect testing ground for new Atlas applications”.
